Add 1 cup of water to a stovetop teapot or saucepan. Add 1 heaped tsp of tea. Cover and bring to a rolling boil. Simmer on low heat for 3 – 5 min. Strain into cup. Sweeten to taste. Delicious served hot or chilled over ice.
Brew it the traditional Iraqi way
Add freshly drawn ambient water to a stovetop teapot or saucepan. Add 1 tsp of tea per cup. Cover and bring to a rolling boil. Simmer on low heat for 3 – 5 min. Strain into cup. Sweeten to taste. Best served in traditional istikan tea glasses (Turkish tulip cups) with sugar or honey on the side. Traditionally, the tea is generously sweetened to enhance its natural flavour. If sharing, impress guests by serving on a decorative tea tray.
